MCO Edward Ricklefs, Michigan State Police
My fellow LEOs,
Please find this correspondence as my unequivocal support for the Defender of the Blue Team.
I’ve been an LEO for three decades, most of that time working the road. Last summer I was 13 hours into a 14 hour shift when word came over the air that a pursuit was headed towards my location, with the suspect shooting at pursuing officers. Without getting into all the details, I was part of an OIS as a result of that suspect’s actions.
Though I knew my actions, and those of my fellow LEOs on scene were completely justified, I have to admit that concerns of how I would be judged caused me physical stress. The following day, I received a list from PORAC of available law firms. I recognized the name, Defender of the Blue (Marc Curtis), from their defense of MSP Sgt Brian Keely. I called Mr. Curtis before noon on a Saturday morning, and he immediately returned my call. One conversation with Mr. Curtis, it is readily evident that he is a zealous and highly competent defender of law enforcement. With his background, he sees the world as you do, and can fully relate to you as a professional LEO. All of these facts helped assuage my concerns.
Hopefully you never have to call PORAC, but if you do, ask for Mr. Curtis and the Defender of the Blue Team. Otherwise they will make the choice for you and direct you to a firm much like asking for a no preference wrecker.
Stay safe,
Edward Ricklefs
